Takming Chuang | Latent

Takming Chuang

Latent

December 7, 2020– Jan 23, 2021

In light of COVID-19, this exhibition will not have an opening or closing reception.

Right Window presents Latent, titled after a new sculpture by Takming Chuang that spans diagonally across the exhibition space. Coiled and folded forms rest on a modular structure of interconnected shelves. Made of wet clay wrapped in plastic, they will eventually shrink, wrinkle, dry and harden. In the foreground beside the window, a frame with an embedded photograph of deli meat demonstrates the mutable nature of the material after it has been fully cured. Relating to the body, Chuang takes an interest in the double meaning of “curing,” as relief and as preservation.
